LCPS is leading the way when it comes to Cerebral Palsy in the County. In a short time, we’ve become the go to charity when organisations are looking for CP representation. Last month we supported the BBC’s educational videos for children with CP and this month we’re helping Mighty productions who are casting for the BBC1 quiz show IMPOSSIBLE. The BBC are keen contestants who appear on the show represent our diverse population as much as possible and we would therefore like to encourage people who have Cerebral Palsy to apply for the show as they are often underrepresented on television. You'll have to be quick though the closing date is 28 February. Good Luck!

We’ve excited to be supporting TV production company The Connected Set who are looking to cast parent(s) and children with cerebral palsy aged 2-5yrs to take part in a short-form video series for BBC Education. These videos will be 90 seconds - 2 mins videos and include very simple activities to support SEND children. These videos will feature as part of the Tiny Happy People campaign, which supports families with their children's development. See some of the films they’ve produced so far here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/tiny-happy-people.
The Connected Set worked with several SEND families last year as part of this campaign and found it an incredibly positive experience for both the families and their team. These specialised videos will be released online in the upcoming months. Feel free to check out the following pages too: https://www.instagram.com/bbctinyhappypeople/ We know some of our member families have already become involved and we look forward to bringing you their stories soon. Proud little Freya Smith, aged just 10, enjoyed representing us in this year’s Cleethorpes Santa Stride. Aided by super mum Nina our triumphant Santas raised a fabulous £163.00 to help us support families in need of grants which really do make a difference.
Fast on their heels were Andy and Lorena Hauton who took part in the Lincoln Santa Fun Run. This local couple put their own spin on the event hobbling around the course tied together three-legged! Was there a reason for this? Lorena explains, "Our son, Mikey, has cerebral palsy amongst other things and if we can do our bit to raise a little that will make life easier for such as our beautiful boy, then being tied together for a Santa run is the least we can do!" Andy and Lorena raised a magnificent £125.00 and we can’t thank our Super Santas enough. Well done and Merry Christmas Santas. We were delighted to meet up with students and lecturers from North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe on 13 November when we attended their Volunteer Fair. This was a great opportunity for us to share details of volunteer roles available and students to see how collaborating with a charity like LCPS can enhance and add to their skills. We’re looking forward to building on the relationship in the coming months. Such a privilege to hear great speakers like Dean Beadle on 19 November at this year’s PAACT Parents and Autistic Children Together conference in Lincoln. Another networking and learning opportunity for us and it didn’t stop there. 29 November saw us rubbing shoulders with the best of them at the Lincolnshire Cerebral Palsy Conference organised by Lincolnshire Community Health Services and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Consultants and Therapists from across the regions came together to share the latest techniques and treatments available to those with cerebral palsy. Our very first e-newsletter has gone out to all our signed-up members today. We usually keep our supporters and volunteers updated via our social media accounts but we’re aware not everyone who’s interested in our work can or wants to access social media and for those who’d like a little more detail about our fundraising, events, speaker network and how to get involved with LCPS the e-newsletter’s ideal.
If you’d like to receive our next quarterly e-newsletter just go to our Membership page and complete the online form, it’s all totally free. You can also sign up by completing the membership form in our LCPS leaflet. If you need a copy just email or call us. |
