Our very first e-newsletter has gone out to all our signed-up members today.  We usually keep our supporters and volunteers updated via our social media accounts but we’re aware not everyone who’s interested in our work can or wants to access social media and for those who’d like a little more detail about our fundraising, events, speaker network and how to get involved with LCPS the e-newsletter’s ideal.
If you’d like to receive our next quarterly e-newsletter just go to our Membership page and complete the online form, it’s all totally free.  You can also sign up by completing the membership form in our LCPS leaflet.  If you need a copy just email or call us.

Celebrating Amazing Autumn Action

23/10/2019

LCPS signed up in support of World Cerebral Palsy Day for the first time this year, joining 74 countries around the world taking action and raising awareness of Cerebral Palsy.

Dawn Ośko, Fundraising Manager for LCPS said, “Our supporters from across Lincolnshire were amazing and we owe them our gratitude and thanks.  They made our Sunday Stroll event on 6 October a family affair and huge success, kicking off what we thought would be a week of events and turning it in to a month of events.  We can’t thank them enough”.

The charity’s special Sunday Stroll was held in Boultham Park, Lincoln, where supporters strolled, wheeled, pushed and wobbled around the circular pathway for 30 minutes, showing their support for World CP day.  Reviving tea and cakes followed with the chance for families to get to know each other.

In the evening Anglian Water Services lit up Lincoln Water Tower an awesome green to show their support for the charity and the CP community and it didn’t stop there.  St Wulfram’s in Grantham lit up and their congregation pledged support, Lincoln Drill Hall shared leaflets and literature, Tina Hillier and daughter Eve from Spalding celebrated and raised awareness with family, passengers and crew onboard Explorer of the Seas; Naomi's Garden Conductive Education celebrated with clients and friends and long term supporters Bridge McFarland sponsored the charity’s new t-shirts.

The week continued with St Botolph’s the iconic Boston Stump lighting up in support and Rhys Page from Grantham wearing green for a special office collection in aid of LCPS.  South Kesteven District Council published an article about CP in their newsletter and the charity hosted another green coffee get together for supporters.

Rounding off the celebrations was left to Andy Hauton who ran the Yorkshire Marathon on 20 October in an amazing 3hrs 29mins to raise funds and show support for son Mikey and LCPS.  Andy said, "I love to run. I take it for granted. My son, however, has to put real effort into living, in part because of his cerebral palsy. I’ve seen him try to run his marathon. If there’s a doughnut in the kitchen he will run! But I’ve also seen him on a resuscitation trolley - running a marathon just to live. This is why I decided to support Lincolnshire Cerebral Palsy Society. If I can do something to make the marathon of life that bit easier for my Mikey and others like him then I am humbled".

LCPS plan to make World Cerebral Palsy Day an annual event in their calendar and are already looking forward to next year when the charity hopes even more families will join in the celebrations.

LCPS is excited to announce this year we've signed up to support World Cerebral Palsy Day on Sunday, 6 October. We're asking all our supporters to Take Action and help raise the profile of Cerebral Palsy and the work our local charity does to make living with Cerebral Palsy in Lincolnshire easier.

We want Lincolnshire landmarks and buildings lit up green on the night of 6 October. Help us to make it happen. Turn it green and send a photo to #CelebratingCerebralPalsy

We're not stopping there, we're planning a week of Action from 6 to 13 October, so there's plenty of time for you to take action with us and show your support.

We kick off with a special Sunday Stroll at 1pm in Boultham Park, Lincoln, and follow through with our Green Coffee Get Together on 9 October.  See full details on our Events page.

Take action with us, bake green cakes, wear green clothes, paint your face green, have a green office or school day, go green crazy. Whatever you chose to do let us know.  We want all your green selfies for our social media pages.

Then go the ultimate green, if you can, and make an online donation at:  www.wonderful.org/

Fundraising Manager Dawn Osko and new Trustee Jo Tolley were more than happy to receive our charity's share of Waitrose's Community Matters for July donation. We'd like to say a massive thank you to Waitrose customers.  Your votes mean £419 will help to support our work even further.
As an independent charity we greatly value and appreciate the support of community donations. We couldn't keep doing what we do without you.
